Search launched to help overseas trained doctors

For the first time, a coordinated national project will seek to identify and assess overseas trained doctors who are permanent residents, but are not currently practising medicine, Mr Abbott said.

The Australian Government will provide close to $1 million to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to undertake a 12 month project to find and assess these doctors.
